Major and Units
Students who do not wish to major in French may enrol in any of our units, as long as relevant prerequisites have been met. Some units have no prerequisites at all.
Degree students who wish to major in French may do so in two different ways, according to prior knowledge at the time of enrolment.
Those who have no prior knowledge of French, or whose knowledge is not sufficient to warrant admission into the post-HSC study pattern (see below), must adhere to Undergraduate Study Pattern FRNC01 (French – Beginners).
Those who have completed HSC French (continuers band 4 to 6 or extension), or who have similar qualifications, must adhere to Undergraduate Study Pattern FRNC02 (French – Post-HSC).
General requirements for both study patterns are the same:
