GMN275 German Literature and Culture
Welcome to GMN 275, German Literature and Culture. This is a reading unit that can be taken by students who have completed GMN287. A number of short prose texts will be studied taking into account their cultural and historical contexts.
The unit is based on a reader which provides students with a short introduction to the writer of each short story in English, as well as with an English glossary for each text. Each text is followed by an exercise section with comprehension questions as well as language exercises.
The unit will also introduce students to the basic tools for analysing literary texts.
This unit is strongly recommended to students who have the necessary prerequisites, as it will help them develop their reading skills and, at the same time, introduce them to important aspects of German culture and society.
