MCD227 Intermediate Macedonian II

This unit is a continuation of MCD 226 Intermediate Macedonian I, with greater emphasis on theoretical grammar and grammatical analysis. It is designed to bring the students with an intermediate knowledge of Macedonian up to the intermediate/advanced level.

The grammatical material focuses on the following areas: classification of parts of speech, an extensive study of the Macedonian verbal system especially the non-finite forms (verbal noun, verbal adjective and verbal adverb), the tenses with the auxiliary "ima" (resultative tenses or perfect forms), transitivity of verbs, special functions of verbal tenses, the use of prepositions. In the area of syntax we will focus on da-constructions, final, declarative and relative clauses.

Reference will be made to the historical development of Macedonian, in particular of the standard (literary) language.
