MGK101 Introductory Modern Greek I

This is an introductory Modern Greek language unit designed for beginners or near beginners. Its chief objective is to assist students in the acquisition of elementary oral and writing skills in the Greek language. The vocabulary and grammatical concepts covered in this unit aim to develop a solid foundation in the language, so that students may confidently and correctly construct simple sentences. A student-centered and communicative approach to teaching allows students to develop their oral and writing skills through various and regular class presentations. The context in which vocabulary and grammar are taught exposes students to important aspects of Greek culture, familiarises them with the sounds of the Greek alphabet, and develops an awareness of the origins of one of the oldest languages in Europe.
